About Books Re-Viewed

This blog is intended to give good books a second chance, long after the first blush of publication is over, to offer a way of re-viewing books and bringing them to the attention of new readers, worldwide, who might not otherwise hear of them. Re-views will be positive in nature, and are meant to encourage people to read the books or discover new authors, and even find out about the publishers who are publishing them.

Susan Toy, the blog’s creator, was both a bookseller and a sales rep for Canadian publishers. She long ago realized the value of backlist, that a book isn’t any less important the season following its publication. In fact, many books are gems that should always be stocked by bookstores and bought and read by readers, but they tend to get buried deeper and deeper with each new season’s publications. As Paige Mason says, publishers’ backlists are full of gold -they just need someone to mine them. Susan is hoping that readers of this blog will be pleasantly surprised by the books that contributors choose to re-view, and that we’ll all benefit – authors, publishers, and readers alike – from the wealth of great books that are already out there, waiting to be discovered again.

Hello Susan – Greetings from Moose Jaw
What a great idea you have. I too have thought of how great books get forgotten when the new ones arrive.
I will pass on your blog address to the two book clubs to which I belong. I expect that they will also be interested.
I will check back regularly for ideas for good books.
I hope this finds you well.
    Regards,
    Marian
